Monaco, 15 May – The second round of the GP2 series is taking place in Monaco, alongside the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship and Jules Bianchi took third place in the race held this afternoon on the narrow streets of the Principality. Having started from fifth on the grid, the Frenchman, driving for Art Grand Prix, came home behind Jerome D’Ambrosio (Dams) and Giedo Van der Garde (Barwa Addax Team.) The young Ferrari Driver Academy man thus leaves Monaco with 11 points to his name and is currently sixth in the Drivers’ classification. The next round of the GP2 series takes place in Istanbul over the weekend of 30 May. Another young talent from the Maranello nursery was also in action round the twisty Monegasque streets today, along with a further twenty three competitors in the World Series, here in Monaco for the third round of their championship, after those in Alcaniz and Spa-Francorchamps: at the wheel of the car entered by Pons Racing, Daniel Zampieri set the twelfth fastest time (1.27.658) in qualifying, where Daniel Ricciardo took pole in 1.26.230, ahead of Albert Costa (Epsilon Euskadi) and Alexander Rossi (1.26.664.) The Roman driver tackles his one race of the weekend, tomorrow at 11.10.
