Monaco GP - Mixed fortunes prior to qualifying

Monaco, 15 May 2010 – As always on this narrow street circuit, traffic had a major impact on the third free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix. Fastest was Robert Kubica in the Renault (1.14.806) followed by the Ferrari of Felipe Massa (1.14.852) and the Red Bull of Mark Webber (1.14.945.)

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro’s Brazilian driver used soft tyres for his first two runs and hard for the last of his three and he did a good job of making the most of the few laps that were traffic free. The other Ferrari of Fernando Alonso could do no better than sixteenth (1.16.266) as he crashed into the barriers after just six laps. The telemetry is being checked now for any anomaly on the Spaniard’s car, which was seriously damaged by the heavy impact. The team now faces a frantic two hours, especially as it is suspected the gearbox might be damaged, to get the car rebuilt for the crucial qualifying sessions which starts at 14.00
