A double free practice session took place on Friday at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, which is hosting the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend. Strong performances and positive results for the two Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3s, with Alessio Rovera, Simon Mann and François Herieu twice finishing fourth, and Davide Rigon, Francesco Castellacci and Thomas Flohr claiming eleventh in both sessions, after a combined total of 168 laps completed over the course of the day.
FP1. Fourth and eleventh fastest times for the two Ferrari 296 LMGT3s in the morning session, held on a track that gradually dried after early-morning rain during the 90-minute opening free practice.
The fourth-fastest time was set by the number 21 of Heriau-Mann-Rovera in 1’43”542 on the 31st of the 39 laps completed.
The number 54, crewed by Flohr-Castellacci-Rigon, covered 38 laps, with a best performance of 1’44”149.
FP2. Same positions and improved lap times in the afternoon’s 90-minute session, held in dry conditions with an air temperature of 18°C. The number 21 of Alessio Rovera, Simon Mann and François Heriau confirmed the fourth-fastest performance with a time of 1’43”272 after completing 47 laps. The number 54 of Davide Rigon, Francesco Castellacci and Thomas Flohr posted a 1’43”860, securing eleventh place after 44 laps.
Programme. On Saturday, 19 April, the third free practice session will take place over 60 minutes, ahead of qualifying for the LMGT3 class, scheduled to get underway at 2.30 p.m. The Hyperpole will follow at 3.30 p.m., determining the top spots on the grid. The 6 Hours of Imola will get the green flag on Sunday, 20 April at 1.00 p.m. (local time).
