Fifth and seventh position for 296 LMGT3s at Spa

    Spa-Francorchamps 09 maggio 2025

The best of the Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3s will start from the third row of the grid in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, round three of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, on Saturday, 10 May. The number 54 crew of Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci, and Ferrari official driver Davide Rigon will line up in fifth. The sister car, number 21 of François Heriau, Simon Mann and official driver Alessio Rovera will start from the seventh.

The first qualifying session, open to Bronze-licence drivers, took place under sunny skies with an air temperature of around 16°C and asphalt at approximately 36°C. Both Vista AF Corse drivers secured spots in the all-important top ten, which grants access to the Hyperpole session. François Heriau set the benchmark for the team in the number 21 Ferrari with a lap of 2'19"223, while Thomas Flohr in the number 54 was ninth at 2'19"753, just over half a second behind his teammate.

Weather and track conditions remained stable for the decisive 12-minute Hyperpole session, which featured Silver-licence drivers and determined the final grid order. Francesco Castellacci secured fifth in the 296 LMGT3 number 54 with a best lap of 2'18"288, just 556 thousandths of a second off pole, which was set on the final lap of the session. Simon Mann claimed seventh in the number 21 with a best time of 2'18"456. However, a potentially faster lap was cancelled for exceeding track limits.

The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, 10 May, at 2 p.m. local time.
