Weekend notebook: triumphs and titles for Ferrari
Maranello 20 October 2025
Alessandro Cozzi and Eliseo Donno clinched the Le Mans Cup GT3 title at Portimão with AF Corse’s Ferrari 296 GT3 thanks to a second-place finish, while in the ELMS the crew of the number 50 Ferrari, featuring official driver Lilou Wadoux, missed out on the championship by just eight points. At the GT World Challenge Asia in Beijing, official driver Yifei Ye claimed victory in Race-2, while David Tjiptobiantoro and Christian Colombo triumphed in the Am class. Meanwhile, at Monza, Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo were crowned Am champions in the International GT Open. Across the Atlantic, AF Corse USA’s Ferrari 296 GT3 secured victory and the Am class title in the GT World Challenge America round at Indianapolis.
Le Mans Cup. A second-place finish at Portimão sufficed for Alessandro Cozzi and Eliseo Donno, driving AF Corse’s number 51 Ferrari 296 GT3, to secure the GT3 class titles in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings. The Italian pairing only needed to finish as runners-up to claim the crown, and after a controlled, disciplined race, they achieved just that, crossing the line behind Kessel Racing’s number 33 Ferrari of Murat Cuhadaroglu and David Fumanelli, who recorded their third win of the season.
The number 23 Biogas Motorsport car, driven by Josep Mayola Comadira and Marc Carol Ybarra, was involved in an accident and did not finish the race. Fourth place went to Kessel Racing’s second entry, the number 17 Ferrari 296 GT3, driven by Lorenzo Ferdinando Innocenti and Andrea Belicchi.
ELMS. The title slipped away from official driver Lilou Wadoux, Custodio Toledo and Riccardo Agostini, who missed out on the championship by just eight points at the end of the final round of the season, the 4 Hours of Portimão. The crew of the number 50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 were unable to maintain the lead they held before the race, and eighth place at the finish proved insufficient to secure the title. The number 55 Spirit of Race Ferrari, driven by Duncan Cameron, David Perel and Matthew Griffin, delivered the best result among the Ferraris competing on the Portuguese circuit, finishing sixth ahead of the number 57 Kessel Racing entry with official driver Daniel Serra, Japan’s Takeshi Kimura and the UK’s Ben Green. Ninth place went to the number 34 AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3, featuring official driver Davide Rigon, Charles-Henry Samani, and Conrad Laursen. The number 66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari, shared by Gianmaria Bruni and Americans Scott Noble and Jason Hart, finished in eleventh, followed by Kessel Racing’s number 74 car with Andrew Gilbert, Fran Rueda, and official driver Miguel Molina in twelfth.
GT World Challenge Asia. The final round of the championship ran on the new Beijing circuit, where David Tjiptobiantoro and Christian Colombo, driving the number 75 Garage 75 Ferrari 296 GT3, secured the Am class title. Tjiptobiantoro claimed his second consecutive crown after his 2024 triumph, while Colombo, who missed one round last season, celebrated his first championship title. Two third-place finishes during the weekend’s races were sufficient for the pairing in the number 75 Ferrari to clinch the title.
Race-2 also saw overall victory for the number 55 Winhere Harmony Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, crewed by official driver Yifei Ye alongside Yaqi Zhang.
International GT Open. In the season finale at Monza, Tommaso Mosca and Carl Bennett scored their fourth win of the year in AF Corse’s number 51 Ferrari 296 GT3, moving into second place in the overall standings. After leading the first 22 laps, the 500 km race at the Temple of Speed also brought a podium finish for the young British pairing Tom Lebbon and Tom Emson in the number 17 Ferrari, entered by Elite Motorsport with Entire Race Engineering.
Making their first appearance of the season in the European Le Mans Series after clinching the Italian GT Endurance Pro Am title, Leonardo Colavita and Ibrahim Badawi finished 15th overall in the number 62 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3, while the number 55 AF Corse entry of Laurent De Meeus and Vincent Abril took tenth place.
Meanwhile, second place at Monza secured the Am class title for Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo in AF Corse’s number 21 Ferrari 296 GT3, bringing their season to a close with eight victories. Stanislaw Jedliński and Krystian Korzeniowski joined them on the Monza podium, finishing third both in the race and in the final championship standings at the wheel of the number 5 Olimp Racing Ferrari.
Super GT Japan: In the penultimate round of the season at Autopolis, the number 7 Carguys MKS Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 nearly secured victory. Starting from pole position and leading most of the race, the car, driven by Zak O’Sullivan, Rikuto Kobayashi, and Keita Sawa, was first delayed by a drive-through penalty for overtaking under yellow flags, and then by a late pit stop for refuelling just eight minutes before the finish, ultimately crossing the line in second place.
The number 6 Velorex Ferrari 296 GT3, shared by Yoshiaki Katayama and Roberto Merhi Muntan, finished fifth, while the number 45 Ponos Racing Ferrari of Kei Cozzolino and Takuro Shinohara came home 16th after the three-hour race.
Intercontinental GT Challenge. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted the season finale of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, a championship featuring some of the world’s most prestigious GT3 endurance races across multiple continents. No Ferrari cars present were in contention for the overall title, but in the Am class, victory went to Jay Schreibman, Oswaldo Negri and Conrad Grunewald in the number 163 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3. The team’s second entry, the number 16 car driven by Marcelo and Christian Hahn, alongside Allam Khodair, finished 18th overall.
GT World Challenge America. The season finale of the American championship, the 8 Hours of Indianapolis, also served as the closing round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. After an intense race marked by torrential rain and several interruptions, Jay Schreibman and Oswaldo Negri, sharing the number 163 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 with Conrad Grunewald, claimed victory in the Am class, securing the class title in the process.
In the Pro Am, the sister car, the number 16 Ferrari crewed by Marcelo Hahn, Christian Hahn and Allam Khodair, finished tenth in class.
GT America. The Brickyard also hosted the two GT America races, with Rodin Younessi competing in the number 16 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 and securing ninth and seventh places.
