The 296 LMGT3s in Brazil for the 6 Hours of São Paulo
Maranello 10 July 2025
After finishing second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the number 21 296 LMGT3, Ferrari returns to action in the FIA World Endurance Championship with the 6 Hours of São Paulo, the fifth round of the season, which will kick off on Sunday, 13 July at 11.30 a.m. (local time).
The historic Interlagos circuit, inaugurated in 1940, is hosting a round of the FIA WEC for the second consecutive year, having previously welcomed the world championship paddock for three editions. The circuit is the shortest on the calendar, at 4.309 kilometres in length, and features a technical layout with numerous elevation changes and slopes.
The two crews from Vista AF Corse head to São Paulo after a positive first half of the season, in which both climbed the podium. The number 21 car, driven by François Heriau, Simon Mann and official driver Alessio Rovera, arrives in Brazil riding the momentum of a win at Spa-Francorchamps and a second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The number 54 of Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and official driver Davide Rigon, meanwhile, is aiming to bounce back after a retirement in France.
The history. As mentioned, the iconic São Paulo venue – which, when it was founded in the 1940s, was known for being a very fast track that included banked corners; over the decades, the layout underwent several changes before reaching its current configuration – had hosted three editions of the 6 Hours, valid for the FIA WEC, between 2012 and 2024. During those three years, Ferrari claimed two LMGTE Pro class wins with the 458 Italia GT2, driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni, in 2012 and 2013.
The standings. The number 21 296 LMGT3 of Heriau-Mann-Rovera lies second in the championship with 76 points, just five points behind the leader, thanks to two consecutive podium finishes. The sister car, number 54, driven by Flohr-Castellacci-Rigon, sits eighth with 31 points, having scored a third-place finish at Spa as its best result of the season.
The programme. The São Paulo race weekend kicks off on Friday, 11 July with two 90-minute free practice sessions, at 11 a.m. and 3.45 p.m. On Saturday, 12 July, the programme continues with the third free session of 60 minutes at 10.10 a.m., followed in the afternoon by the LMGT3 qualifying sessions from 2.45 to 2.57 p.m., and the LMGT3 Hyperpole from 3.05 to 3.15 p.m. On Sunday, 13 July, the green flag for the six-hour race waves at 11.30 a.m. (all times local).
